  • Next, in a bowl add all-purpose flour, corn flour, salt and all the spices and mix thoroughly. Coat the chicken in the batter.
  • Next, heat up oil and fry the coated chicken for 5-6, minutes and keep aside.
  • In another pan prepare sauce combining butter, chopped garlic, soy sauce, honey and sugar. Toss the chicken into the sauce and coat evenly and garnish with sesame seeds and enjoy!!

  • 1 kg Boneless Chicken
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder/ Garlic Paste
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 cups Plain flour
  • 1 cup Corn flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Chili powder
  • 1 tbsp Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Oregano
  • 1 tbsp Ginger powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • Oil for frying the chicken
  • 250 ml water
  • 150-gram Butter
  • 2 Bulbs of Garlic
  • 1 tsp Chili flakes
  • 1/2 cup Soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup Sugar
  • 1/3 cup Honey
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Green Garlic for garnish (optional)

Step 1: Marinate the Chicken

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chicken breast, which has been cut into small, bite-sized cubes, with a generous sprinkle of garlic powder and a pinch of salt. Mix the ingredients thoroughly to ensure that the chicken is evenly coated, then allow it to marinate for at least 30 minutes, giving the flavors time to infuse into the chicken.

Step 2: Preparing the batter

  • In another clean, dry bowl, mix together the plain flour, corn flour, a pinch of salt, and all the spices. Stir it well to make sure everything is evenly blended. Once that’s done, transfer half of the mixture into a different bowl for later, keeping the other half in the first bowl for the next part of the recipe.

Step 3: Coating chicken in wet batter

  • Pour some water into one of the bowls with the flour mixture and mix it well until you have a thick batter. Once your batter is ready, pour it over the marinated chicken and mix everything together , making sure each piece of chicken is evenly coated in the batter.

Step 4: Add dry flour mixture

  • Next add the remaining dry flour into the chicken batter. Gently fold it in, making sure to coat each piece of chicken evenly without overmixing. This will help create a nice, crispy texture when you fry it!

Step 5: Frying the chicken

  • In a frying pan, heat up enough oil for deep frying. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated chicken pieces and fry them for about 5 to 6 minutes over medium heat, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Once they’re done, remove the chicken from the oil and set it aside on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Step 6: Making the sauce

  • Next, chop the garlic into fine pieces. In another pan, melt some butter over medium-high heat, then add the chopped garlic. Sauté it for about 30 seconds, while stirring , until it turns golden brown. Be careful not to let it burn!
  • Reduce the heat to low and add the chili flakes to the pan, cooking for about 20 seconds to release their flavor. Then, pour in the soy sauce, sugar, and honey. Mix everything together well and let it cook on medium heat for about a minute, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.

Step 7: Tossing in the chicken

  • Toss the fried chicken cubes into the pan and give them a good mix to coat each piece in the honey sauce. Make sure they’re all evenly covered!

Step 8: Finishing Touches

  • To finish it off, sprinkle some sesame seeds and chopped green garlic on top for an extra burst of flavor. Serve it hot and enjoy.

Tips and Notes:

  • For even better flavor, consider marinating the chicken for a few hours or overnight if you have time.
  • Feel free to customize the spices to your taste. Paprika, cayenne pepper, or even a dash of curry powder can add a unique twist.
  • Adjust the amount of water in the batter to achieve your desired thickness. A thicker batter will result in a crunchier coating.
  • Ensure the oil is hot enough before adding the chicken. If it’s too cool, the chicken will absorb too much oil and become greasy. A good test is to drop a small amount of batter in; it should sizzle and rise to the top.
  • Fry the chicken in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan, which can lower the oil temperature and lead to soggy chicken.
  • Modify the sugar and honey levels in the sauce according to your taste. You can also use alternatives like maple syrup or agave.
  • Serve with steamed rice, noodles, or a side of veggies for a complete meal. A sprinkle of lime juice on top can add a refreshing touch.
  • Leftover chicken can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2-3 days. Reheat in an oven to maintain crispiness.
  • For an extra kick, increase the amount of chili flakes or add sliced fresh chilies to the sauce.
  • Fresh cilantro, green onions, or even chopped peanuts can add great flavor and texture as garnishes.
